Strategy 1:Taking note of previous success

Increasing your confidence / self-efficacy can be as simple as sitting down and making notes in regards to your previous successes. Think about all the good things that have led you to this point in racing. Think about either the races you have won, done well in or driven a portion of really well. Think about a time when you performed the desired action well, and write about the positive aspects of this experience.
Simply seeing your success on paper can trigger a reminder and belief in your ability and serve as both a powerful motivator and increasing your self-efficacy.

Strategy 2: Modelling / Observing someone else achieve your desired outcome

Simply watching another person successfully complete a task serves as a form of increasing self-efficacy. Think about a time when you have watched a supremely talented driver then gone out on the track and driven a lot better yourself. Or watched a DVD on legendary drivers then gone out on the track and absolutely torn it up! Surrounding yourself in excellence and modelling this behaviour not only improves your driving but also your belief in your ability!

Strategy 3:Becoming aware of your self talk

Simply becoming aware of what you say to yourself can serve to increase your belief in your ability. Sometimes drivers are not even aware of the negative self-talk that is eroding away at their skill. Saying things like “It’s raining and I can’t drive well in the wet” put negative thoughts in your head and diminish your ability to get in the zone and dominate the race.
Becoming aware of these involves noticing when they occur, writing them down and then changing them with a more positive message. For example “Rain is a challenge and I am keen to practice racing in it so I can master it, then dominate!”
